What is the Blue House?

Sigma Gamma Rho‘s commitment to service is expressed in its slogan, “Greater Service, Greater Progress.” Simply put, we strive to positively impact the Western Wake County area through quality community service and programming, and to increase Sigma Gamma Rho’s visibility in the western region of Wake County.

From seven young educators, Sigma Gamma Rho has become an international service organization comprised of women from many professions. Sigma Gamma Rho offers its members opportunities to develop their unique talents through leadership training and involvement in sorority activities. Sorority activities provide an atmosphere where friendships and professional contacts are developed which often lead to bonds that last a lifetime.

Education opens doors, has within it the power to solve problems, and through it can be found new ways to serve a global community.  With education being one of Sigma Gamma Rho’s cornerstones, we actively promote educational attainment across the spectrum from early education to post-graduate studies. Women seeking membership in the sorority at the alumnae level must have completed at minimum a bachelor degree from an accredited institution. We are proud of a membership which includes women who have achieved some of the highest levels of education and who remain open to new educational experiences in both traditional and non-traditional forms.
